Grant Permissions
Echo Flow needs Microphone, Accessibility, and Speech Recognition access. The onboarding wizard guides you through each one with direct links to System Settings.
Set Up Echo Flow AI
Echo Flow AI downloads once during setup and then runs locally on your Mac for polish and rewrite. No model details to manage.
Rewrite or Dictate
Select text and press ⌥⇧Space to rewrite, or place your cursor and hold ⌥ + Space to dictate.
Two workflows. One app
Dictate when you have something to say. Rewrite when you have something to refine.
Dictate ⌥ + Space
- Hold ⌥ + Space. The overlay appears instantly with a live waveform.
- Speak naturally. Echo Flow reads the room — Mail→email, Slack→casual, Code→verbatim.
- Release. Polished text lands exactly where your cursor is.
Rewrite ⌥ + ⇧ + Space
- Select any text in any app.
- Press ⌥⇧Space. Choose a rewrite action from the palette.
- Echo Flow replaces the selection or copies the result if the app blocks replacement.
Dictate the summary. Get the note
Dictate a 2–10 minute post-session summary and get a structured note, organized on your Mac, reviewed before it lands.
- Enable it once. Open Echo Flow → Preferences → Clinical Note → turn on Enable Clinical Note. Grant Microphone, Speech Recognition, and Accessibility if asked.
- Focus your field and press ⌥⌘N. Click into the text field of your web-based practice-management system, then press the Clinical Note shortcut (or use the menu).
- Speak your summary. The overlay shows your template and a live timer. You get an 8-minute warning; recording stops automatically at 10 minutes so nothing is lost.
- Press ⌥⌘N again (or tap Stop). Echo Flow transcribes the recording, then organizes your sentences into the selected template, SOAP, DAP, BIRP, GIRP, Progress, Intake, or your own.
- Review and commit. Edit the note, then Paste into field (reactivates the app you were using), Copy, or Discard. Retry organize re-runs section assignment if needed.
On-device only
Everything runs on your Mac. No cloud speech, no cloud AI.
Audio deleted immediately
Recordings are deleted as soon as they're transcribed.
Transcript only, retention is yours
Only the raw transcript is stored locally, never the generated note, for a retention period you choose in Settings.
