Echo Flow

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Echo Flow is built to feel like an extension of your thoughts, not a leak of your data. This document explains what we do (and don’t do) with your information.

1. Core principle: your writing stays on your Mac

Echo Flow is designed so your dictated audio, transcripts, polished text, rewritten text, history entries, snippets, styles, and personal dictionary stay on your Mac. We do not upload that content for polishing, rewriting, training, or cloud transcription.

2. Polish and rewrite

Polish and rewrite — including capitalization, punctuation, grammar, tone refinement, action-item extraction, and plain-English rewriting — run locally after setup. No dictated or selected text is sent to Echo Flow servers for this.

Echo Flow uses Echo Flow AI, local cleanup, and protected-term safeguards:

  • Echo Flow AI downloads once during setup and then runs locally on your Mac.
  • Local cleanup handles capitalization, punctuation, filler removal, and formatting when Echo Flow AI is unavailable or not needed.
  • No prompts, transcriptions, polished text, or rewritten text are sent to an external server for polish or rewrite.

3. Data stored on your device

Echo Flow may store some information locally in order to function:

  • App settings and preferences (e.g. shortcuts, language).
  • Recent transcriptions and polished output, so you can revisit and reuse them.

You can clear history from within the app. We recommend doing this regularly if you work with highly sensitive information.

4. Telemetry & logs

To keep Echo Flow stable, we may collect limited diagnostic information, such as:

  • OS version, app version, and performance metrics.
  • Non‑content error messages (e.g. “network request failed”).

We do not intentionally log your actual dictated content. Where logs might accidentally include fragments of text (for example, provider error messages), we work to minimise and periodically delete this data.

5. Network connections and email collection

Echo Flow is not a cloud transcription service, but some operational features do contact servers: the one-time Echo Flow AI setup download, app update checks, license activation and validation, purchase redirects, and optional email signup on the download page.

  • Setup downloads and update checks do not upload your dictated or rewritten content.
  • License checks send license/accounting information needed to activate or validate your license, not your writing.
  • Your email is stored securely by our email service provider (MailerLite) only if you opt in to receive updates.
  • If you choose not to receive updates, your email is not stored and is only used to process the download request.
  • You can unsubscribe from product updates at any time using the link in any email we send.
  • We do not sell or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Your choices and controls

  • You can turn polish on or off at any time. Polish and rewrite run locally after setup.
  • You can edit or clear your local history from the app.
  • You control whether polish tones and styles are applied to your transcriptions.

7. Contact for privacy questions
